Nimuel, son of Minsu & Tala, has grown up on this island, a member of one of the original families and an only child. Those who grew up with the Greek gods say he has been touched by Poseidon himself, that he can speak directly to the ocean and she hears his voice.
He can manipulate water and develops gills when swimming ( after the initial transformation pain ). He can also communicate with underwater creatures and loves the sea more than life itself.
Nim makes a living building water vessels and performing a variety of jobs for those looking for assistance.
He stands at 5'9, often dressed in greens and teals, colorful string often braided into pieces of his hair. His hands and feet are rough from his solitary sailing excursions and daily exploration.
A barefooted nature boy, Nim is restless, untamable at times, a little bit of a brat. He's very particular about who he allows near him though he is always soft for ocean life. ( Fishes are better than people. )
Not a very social boy - would be an environmental activist in the Real World.
Nim is tactile, clever with his hands, never one to rely entirely on his powers. He is especially adept with ropes, due to sailing, as well as fishing and climbing trees.

Nawala ( meaning 'lost' in Tagalog ) is a hidden island in the tropics, separate from modern society with lush greens and a climate/terrain similar to that of the Philippines.
Strong typhoon season, sticky heat.
The island contains a small population of about 200 people – a mix of magic users, powered humans, shapeshifters, etc. as well as open-minded and rare human explorers.
As humans rapidly overtook the world, there were fewer safe spaces for magic, which had taken to the underground. Many departed their homes to develop a community where magic could thrift.
Though there are several core families who have sustained the island life, some leave and bring back new knowledge; Nawala may be disconnected but it is not completely untouched by modern society.
As time has passed, people have ported over minimal technology such as some televisions, phones, etc.
While many live scattered through the island, there is a center village, a small government consisting of village leaders voted into the council and old representatives from the core families.
Founding Day is an important holiday to Nawala as they have a yearly celebration of the establishment of their community.
It would be best to steer clear of the volcano.
